About Sanibel CHR: Board Members
Jill D. Dillon, Secretary
Jill Dillon has been a Sanibel resident for 18 years. She is a founding member and Chairperson of Citizens for Quality Education (CQE), a non-partisan group dedicated to excellence in education in the Lee County Public Schools. CQE continues to monitor the School Board's policy that ensures the schools will remain integrated and diversified, with education resources distributed equally throughout the district.
Currently Mrs. Dillon serves on The Committee For Fair Elections task force focusing on passage of a state constitutional amendment ensuring an independent commission for apportionment of legislative and congressional districts. This group follows upon the task force Lee County Votes ‘04, which contributed to the successful passage of the Florida minimum wage amendment, raising the rate from $5.15 to $6.15 per hour. She also works with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition to restore the rights of disenfranchised voters. As a member of Zonta, an organization dedicated to enhancing the status of women worldwide, she serves on the anti-trafficking committee.
Mrs. Dillon has three children who live in Seattle, Boston and New York , and three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, and year-old twins John and Matthew. John is named after Jill's husband, John, who passed away in 2005.
Mrs. Dillon has been a CHR Board member since June 2001, and a member of the Landlord/Tenant Committee since April 2005. She currently serves as CHR's Secretary.
