About Sanibel CHR: Board Members

John Highsmith

John Highsmith has been a Sanibel resident for 28 years. He has been involved in the building industry most of his life, and is the owner of a General Contracting company on Sanibel, specializing in home building. He serves as an advisor to the Sanibel Historical Museum , and is a member of the Damage Assessment Team.

Mr. Highsmith is a native Hoosier who calls Anderson , Indiana his hometown. He attended several colleges prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Navy in the early 1960s. Since that time, he has taken extensive courses, and has participated in numerous seminars and workshops, in the field of homebuilding.

Mr. Highsmith and his family moved to Sanibel in 1978. He and his wife Dianna and their three children enjoy backpacking, hiking and camping, and canoeing.

Mr. Highsmith has been a CHR Board member since April 2002, and a member of CHR's Woodhaven and Lake Palms Subcommittees since May 2002.
